Real lives changed
In Juneau County, three young boys had been placed in out-of-home care due to addiction issues in the home, but their parents were determined to reunite with their kids. As recovering addicts, they had worked hard to seek treatment, establish new jobs, and secure safe housing—doing all they could to get their sons back home.
There was just one problem: they had secured housing, but did not have the basic furnishings to make it a home. They were in need of bedding, kitchen items, and basic necessities to prepare their home as a suitable living environment for their three children.
The county social worker knew this family had worked hard to rebuild their lives and submitted a CarePortal request for the remaining items they needed for their home.
The community stepped up big time to support them.
Not only did they provide the items that the family needed, but their swift response sped up the reunification process—reuniting this family about a month earlier than originally planned.
